A request

I’d just like to ask people not to link me any YouTube content  until they reverse their bigoted anti-LGBTQ stance. Being LGBTQ+ or an ally of is not “adult content”, and blocking LGBTQ+ content in the name of being “family friendly” is harmful to kids.

If they want to block adult content, then that’s fine, but they need to be more realistic about their filters. And until they do, I’d rather not be reminded that they exist.

Thank you.

Happy Hogswatch

Where has this year gone? It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating the turning of the year last time, and celebrating only a few weeks later, Louise’s birthday at Kimchee. Spring was, shall we say, nothing to write home about, summer seemed to rush by and saw us take a weekend to visit Paris and Versailles, and I’m not actually sure we had an Autumn this year as Summer seemed to last well into October and segued into Winter with barely a change… like setting a music player to cross fade while playing Holst’s “The Planets”. WTF, Canada?

Over the last few years, I’ve seen Canada as being something of a beacon of hope in the western world. I knew it wasn’t perfect – nowhere is – but I thought of it as a progressive nation that combined the best parts of the U.S. with the best of U.K. and Europe, while having few of the bad bits. It was a country I wanted to visit (I have relatives and friends there whom I’ve never met), and have, on more than one occasion considered emigrating there. A good record for human rights, friendly people, lots of space all made it a kind of wonderland. I saw it through the same kind of tinted lenses that draws people from Eastern Europe to the U.K., or from Central America to the U.S.A. Obviously, I was wrong, as Palpatine† would have put it, about a great many things. Sharing

I have no idea whether the fault lies with WordPress or with Facebook, but every couple of weeks, the automatic posting from one to the other just stops and I have to share manually. Google+ and Twitter work fine!

Visitation

This weekend, my partner Louise and I were visited by the lovely Katelyn from Reading (whom I met a while ago on the book of faces, and have met once since). Movies were watched, food was eaten and alcohol was consumed, as one would expect. Everyone got on well, which made me happy, and I’ve heard a rumour that snuggles might have happened too, though I couldn’t possibly comment on that, being all innocent and all. And in any case, the weather is fine this morning, no high winds, no rain, no floods or anything that’d be predicted by UKIP, so what can I say…

Actually, I can reshare this UKIP Shipping Forecast on SoundCloud, because it’s funny!

A New Blogroll

I’ve added a blogroll as a sidebar. It’s a selection of recent posts from some of the blogs I follow. It’s organised chronologically so only the newest will appear and for now only the latest 12 are shown. If you want your blog to be added, and you write often enough for it to show up, then please let me know. Friends will get priority, but it’s not as if I have people beating at the doors.

A reciprocal link would be nice, but isn’t necessary for inclusion.
