The French Connection
Warning: Photo heavy. On Friday 20th June, 2014 at about 2pm, Louise and I headed off to St. Pancras International for the first leg of our French Adventure 2014. We ate a lunch at the Betjeman Arms and meandered over to the check-in for Eurostar. No sooner had we got through than they announced that the train was boarding. Next stop, Paris Gare du Nord.
Going Underground
This afternoon, Louise and I went down into the lost world of Aldwych Station on a tour by the LT Museum. We were given an interesting talk on the history and downfall of the station, including how it was built to serve the Aldwych Theatre (but ironically came to be built on the site of the aforementioned), how it was used as storage for the British Museum in WW1, an air raid shelter in WW2 and of course, film sets and TfL training up until now. Pub review: The Island Queen, Islington
The Island Queen, hidden in the darkest depths of Angel, is a pub I’ve wanted to visit for a long time, but with one thing and another, never got around to. This week, wanting a change from our usual Wetherspoon’s fare, Louise and I decided to give their Sunday lunch a try.
