A witches’ brew

Around the end of last year, Louise decided she wanted to learn about home brewing. Partly to see what can be done and partly to save money…

Well, since we don’t yet have all the equipment for full mash, we started with some kits. This evening, the first batch brewed solely by Louise (a St Peter’s Golden Ale kit) was breached for sampling.

It’s not quite finished yet, but it’s pretty clear and with a good body and taste. Slightly sweet, but that’s all, and by next weekend I think that will be sorted out.

Especially for a first try, it’s surprisingly good. My first few attempts were nothing like as polished.

I hope we can get enough space for a mash later this spring. I really want to see what she can do.
