Jaded Vision

It would be easy to talk about Brexit or IoT as a reason to become cynical and jaded in the UK, but it wouldn’t be interesting, nor novel. There’s just way too much that’s already been said, and in any case it tends to polarise people into the pro- and anti- camps, and I don’t want to be walking that road this morning. Instead I will mention streaming video.

A light lunch and an update

It’s been a while since I’ve written about anything other than Minecraft – which is itself a mystery since I consider it extremely flawed, and so it’s about time I did. And so I’ll start off with lunch, for no other reason than food porn. It consists of a salmon fillet from The Saucy Fish Co., grilled and served with chilli, lime and ginger sauce, a Sainsbury’s salad, and a glass of Californian Sauvignon Blanc (also from Sainsbury’s). Streaming Media and Job Search

Not so very long ago, Amazon caused controversy when they added LoveFilm® into their Prime service, and pretty much doubling the price in the process, at least for Prime-only customers. What of those who didn’t want LoveFilm? What of those whose internet would not be up to streaming? What of those who could not afford the price hike? Well, as it happened, I was for once in a good position. My Prime subscription had renewed about a week before the price hike, and so effectively the new service would be free for almost a whole year, the best possible trial I could hope for. (more…)
